Privacy Policy
Last updated:
Short version: Pin Composer collects only the information needed to operate this website, provide support, and provide the Pin Composer service. When you connect a Pinterest account, Pin Composer uses Pinterest’s official OAuth authorization and API services to perform actions that you explicitly authorize.
Pin Composer uses a backend service operated by Pin Composer, called Pin Composer Relay, to securely facilitate Pinterest OAuth authorization and API communication. Pin Composer does not ask for or collect your Pinterest password.
1. Who this policy covers
This Privacy Policy applies to pincomposer.com, the Pin Composer WordPress plugin, and related services operated by Pin Composer.
Pin Composer is an independent software product that helps WordPress site owners create, compose, manage, schedule, and publish Pinterest-ready content using Pinterest’s official API.
2. Information collected by this website
- Contact information — If you contact us through our contact form or by email, we may receive your name, email address, and the contents of your message. We use this information to respond to your inquiry and provide support.
- Basic website analytics — We may collect standard, aggregated information such as pages visited, approximate geographic location, browser or device type, and general usage information. This information is used to understand website usage and improve our services.
We do not sell or rent personal information collected through this website.
3. Pinterest integration
Pin Composer integrates with Pinterest through Pinterest’s official OAuth authorization and API services.
When you choose to connect a Pinterest account, you are redirected to Pinterest to review and authorize the permissions requested by Pin Composer.
Pin Composer does not request, collect, or store your Pinterest password. Authentication is performed through Pinterest’s OAuth authorization process.
4. Pinterest information accessed through the API
Depending on the permissions you authorize, Pin Composer may access information provided by Pinterest’s API that is necessary to provide the requested functionality.
This may include:
- Your Pinterest account identifier and basic account information.
- Your Pinterest boards and board identifiers.
- Pin-related information required for publishing workflows.
- Information required to create and publish Pins on your behalf.
Pin Composer requests only the Pinterest permissions necessary for the functionality provided by the plugin.
5. Pinterest OAuth credentials
When you authorize Pinterest, Pinterest provides OAuth credentials that allow Pin Composer to make authorized API requests on your behalf.
During the OAuth authorization process, these credentials are temporarily processed by Pin Composer Relay, a backend service operated by Pin Composer.
Pin Composer Relay is used solely to facilitate the secure OAuth handoff between Pinterest and the user’s WordPress installation and does not act as a persistent proxy for Pinterest API requests.
Pin Composer Relay temporarily holds the OAuth access and refresh tokens during the secure server-to-server handoff from Pinterest to the WordPress site running Pin Composer. These temporary credentials are intended for one-time use and are deleted after the credentials have been successfully transferred to the authorized WordPress installation.
After the OAuth handoff is completed, the Pin Composer WordPress plugin stores the credentials required for the connected Pinterest account on the WordPress site where the plugin is installed.
OAuth credentials are used only to authenticate authorized Pinterest API requests. They are not sold, rented, or used for advertising or unrelated purposes.
6. Pin Composer Relay
Pin Composer Relay is a backend service operated by Pin Composer. Its primary purpose is to securely facilitate communication between the Pin Composer WordPress plugin and Pinterest’s official API.
The Relay may perform functions including:
- Initiating the Pinterest OAuth authorization flow.
- Exchanging a Pinterest authorization code for OAuth credentials.
- Temporarily holding OAuth credentials during the secure handoff to the authorized WordPress installation.
- Refreshing Pinterest OAuth credentials when requested by the authorized installation.
- Supporting security, rate limiting, licensing, and reliable communication between Pin Composer installations and Pin Composer services.
Pin Composer Relay does not receive or store your Pinterest password. It does not provide Pinterest account access to other users.
7. How Pinterest data is used
Pinterest data accessed through the API is used only to provide Pinterest-related functionality requested by the user.
For example, Pin Composer may use authorized Pinterest data to:
- Display available Pinterest boards so you can select a destination.
- Create and publish Pins that you have selected.
- Support publishing and scheduling workflows initiated by you.
- Display publishing status and API responses within the plugin.
Pin Composer does not sell Pinterest data or use Pinterest data for advertising purposes.
Pinterest data is not used to build advertising profiles about users and is not used to train artificial intelligence or machine learning models.
8. User control and authorized actions
Pin Composer is designed so that Pinterest publishing actions are initiated by the user. You choose the content and Pinterest destination before a Pin is published or scheduled through the plugin.
When you schedule a Pin for future publication, Pin Composer stores the scheduling information required to execute the publishing action that you previously authorized.
Pin Composer does not independently select content or Pinterest destinations on your behalf.
You may disconnect your Pinterest account from Pin Composer at any time through the plugin’s settings or by revoking the authorization through Pinterest.
9. Data stored on your WordPress site
The Pin Composer plugin runs on the WordPress installation where you install it. Depending on the features you use, the plugin may store information such as Pinterest OAuth credentials, selected boards, publishing settings, scheduled publishing information, publishing status, and plugin configuration data in that WordPress site’s database.
The security and privacy of data stored directly on a WordPress installation are also affected by the hosting environment, administrators, plugins, and other software installed on that site.
10. Data retention and deletion
Pin Composer retains information only for as long as reasonably necessary to provide the service, maintain security, provide support, comply with legal obligations, and operate the product.
Temporary OAuth grant records held by Pin Composer Relay are single-use records and are deleted after they are successfully redeemed by the authorized WordPress installation.
When a Pinterest account is disconnected from Pin Composer, the OAuth credentials stored by the plugin on that WordPress installation are deleted by the plugin as part of the disconnect process.
Information stored directly on a user’s WordPress installation may remain under the control of that site’s administrator.
11. Third-party services
Pin Composer uses third-party services where necessary to provide its functionality.
- Pinterest — for OAuth authorization and Pinterest API functionality.
- Hosting and infrastructure providers — to operate pincomposer.com and Pin Composer backend services.
- Analytics providers — where enabled, to understand general website usage and improve the service.
These services may process information according to their own privacy policies and terms. Pin Composer does not sell Pinterest data to third parties.
12. Cookies
This website may use cookies or similar technologies required for basic website functionality, security, preferences, and analytics.
We do not use cookies on this website for cross-site advertising tracking.
13. Data security
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures designed to protect information processed by Pin Composer against unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, or destruction.
OAuth credentials are treated as confidential authentication information and are not intentionally exposed to other users.
14. Your choices
You may choose not to connect a Pinterest account to Pin Composer. You may also disconnect a previously authorized Pinterest account and request deletion of personal information held by Pin Composer, subject to information that we are required to retain for legal, security, or operational reasons.
15. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes to Pin Composer, our services, or applicable legal requirements.
When we make material changes, we will update the “Last updated” date displayed at the top of this page.
